Going Solar 101
The Science Behind Solar Power.

Did you know the sun delivers enough energy to Earth in just one hour to power the entire world for a year? That’s why solar energy is one of the most powerful and sustainable resources available. Modern solar panels have advanced significantly, with higher-quality materials and improved efficiency, but the core process remains the same. Photovoltaic (PV) cells capture sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity, which is then transformed into usable power for your home or business.

How Solar Works

Solar panels convert sunlight to DC electricity. The inverter on each panel converts electricity from DC to AC.

Your system can monitor how much power it’s producing using a device that can be placed outside of your home for easy access.

A solar subpanel carries the AC current into your home to use.

Excess electricity is fed back into the grid and credited to you for future use.

An energy storage system (ESS) or battery system can also be installed with your solar to operate lights, refrigerators, etc., during a planned or emergency outage.

Solar panels use photovoltaic (PV) cells to capture sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. That DC power is then sent through an inverter, which transforms it into alternating current (AC) electricity that your home or business can use.

Yes. Today’s solar panel technology is more efficient and affordable than ever. Advances in materials and design allow panels to generate more power even on cloudy days, making them a reliable source of clean energy for most homes in New York and New Jersey.

Kamtech Solar offers solutions for flat roofs, pitched roofs, and ground-mounted systems. Our team designs custom installations so you can benefit from solar energy no matter what type of roof you have.

By generating your own electricity, you reduce the amount you buy from the utility. Over time, this means lower monthly bills, protection against rising energy costs, and eligibility for solar tax credits and incentives.

Standard solar panels shut down during outages for safety, but when paired with solar battery storage, your system can provide backup power. This keeps your lights on, your fridge running, and your family comfortable during emergencies.
